Join AECOM as an Apprentice Quantity Surveyor / Cost Manager in our Birmingham office, starting in September 2026. In this trainee role, you will contribute to client projects across the Commercial, Industrial and Logistics, Residential, and Education markets, gaining hands-on experience through all stages of a project lifecycle while developing the skills to become a qualified Cost Manager.
What You'll Do
- Be involved in all project stages from initial definition and brief, through cost planning, procurement, construction, and building use.
- Work with a wide variety of clients, including high-profile names, often within multi-disciplinary teams.
- Perform pre-contract duties: cost modelling and planning, benchmarking, value and risk analysis, lifecycle costing, procurement tasks, managing tender processes, and compiling contract documentation.
- Perform post-contract duties: attend site progress meetings, complete valuations, financial reporting, due diligence reporting, and review and manage change control procedures.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 112 UCAS points (or equivalent) achieved or predicted.
- Minimum grade 5 in Maths & English GCSE (or equivalent).
- Aptitude for good logic, analytical, and numerical skills.
- Demonstrated interest in and desire to pursue a career in Quantity Surveying.
- Commitment to continued education and improvement through on-the-job learning and training.
- Practical, adaptable, and enthusiastic attitude.
- English language proficiency and excellent communication skills.
- Permanent right to work in the UK &/or Ireland (we are unable to offer visa sponsorship).
