Role Overview
Join a team dedicated to advancing care for patients with rare conditions by serving as the primary point of contact for a specialized therapy in the Newark, NJ territory and surrounding areas. This position focuses on expanding awareness and appropriate use of a biologic treatment among healthcare providers, while supporting seamless patient onboarding and long-term management.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement a strategic business plan tailored to the needs of diverse medical environments, including private practices, academic centers, integrated delivery networks, and specialty infusion clinics.
- Educate clinicians and care teams on disease pathology and treatment protocols using balanced, compliant messaging aligned with approved labeling.
- Build trusted relationships with physicians, nurses, case managers, and administrative staff to support coordinated patient care pathways.
- Identify and resolve access barriers related to reimbursement, insurance authorization, and site-of-care logistics in collaboration with internal support teams.
- Coordinate with medical science liaisons, nurse educators, and reimbursement specialists to deliver integrated solutions for complex accounts.
- Support the development of referral networks and treatment initiation workflows to improve patient continuity.
- Engage key opinion leaders and regional influencers to broaden therapeutic understanding and clinical adoption.
- Share market insights with commercial and strategic teams to shape future initiatives and resource allocation.
- Utilize digital platforms and peer-led education tools to extend outreach and reinforce clinical messaging.
- Represent the organization at medical conferences and professional gatherings to maintain current knowledge of evolving standards of care.
- Manage promotional budgets efficiently and ensure full compliance with all regulatory and corporate policies.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree with at least three years of sales experience in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, or medical devices is required. Candidates with an associate degree and six years of relevant experience, or a high school diploma and eight years in the field, will also be considered. Frequent local travel is expected, including occasional overnight or weekend commitments.
Preferred Experience
- Proven track record in managing reimbursement challenges and coordinating patient access programs.
- Background promoting therapies requiring coordination across clinical and administrative teams.
- Experience in endocrinology or ophthalmology settings is highly valued.
- Familiarity with infused medications, medical benefit billing, and buy-and-bill models.
- Success working within community clinics, academic hospitals, and large health systems.
- Ability to collaborate across functions such as Market Access, Medical Affairs, and Patient Services.
- Strong understanding of payer landscapes, formulary processes, and managed care dynamics.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging for clinical and operational audiences.
- Self-driven with adaptability in fast-moving or uncertain environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and virtual engagement platforms.
Compensation & Benefits
This role offers a competitive base salary ranging from $154,736 to $183,900, complemented by a sales-based incentive plan and stock-based long-term incentives. The position supports flexible work arrangements where feasible, with primary locations in Newark, NJ, Trenton, NJ, Philadelphia, PA, and the New York City area.
