10x Genomics is hiring an Account Executive in Chicago to drive sales growth within top- and mid-tier academic and government accounts. This field-based role applies technical expertise in Single Cell and Spatial profiling to consult with customers and requires strong business acumen to build and execute territory plans.
What You'll Do
- Develop and manage a territory plan to meet or exceed business goals.
- Apply technical credibility to consult with customers on technology solutions.
- Demonstrate funnel management skills with strong hunting/prospecting and closing abilities.
- Consistently and accurately manage the sales process, including forecasting, pipeline management, and CRM tracking.
- Establish trust with customers, understand their research needs and internal dynamics, and take a consultative selling approach.
- Ensure high customer satisfaction post-sale.
- Develop deep knowledge of customer ecosystems and decision-makers.
- Stay up-to-date on research trends to identify high-value leads.
- Work effectively with sales and support teams.
- Work closely with other roles, aligning internal responsibilities and goals, and leveraging experts to drive customer decisions.
- Manage the customer relationship post-purchase to support ongoing consumables use and identify new research opportunities.
- Commit to rigorous business and territory planning, applying market and customer knowledge for accurate forecasting.
- Maintain current knowledge of genetic analysis markets, products, and buying practices.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related field; or the equivalent knowledge and experience.
- Minimum of 2 years sales experience in Life Science, selling small to mid-sized capital and consumables, preferably in academic, life sciences or biotechnology industries.
- Extensive knowledge of single cell and spatial biology tools applied to life science research.
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Proven ability to establish long-term customer relationships and closing new business.
- Strong customer-facing skills including building trust, understanding needs, presenting solutions, and navigating research institutions and grant funding environments.
Nice to Have
- Masters or PhD in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or a related field.
