The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services is hiring a Youth Security Supervisor to ensure the safety and security of the YRTC-Hastings facility during the afternoon shift. You will lead a team of Youth Program Specialists, oversee daily operations, and respond to critical incidents.
What You'll Do
- Provide direct supervision, support, coaching, and mentoring to Youth Program Specialists on the afternoon shift.
- Control the daily operation of the YRTC-Hastings facility.
- Administer facility rules and regulations to ensure youth activities and events are conducted properly.
- Oversee health, sanitation, safety, and security standards.
- Respond to and handle crisis and critical incidents, communicating with Administration during non-business hours.
- Complete disciplinary investigations for validity and due process.
- Establish and lead the command center during crisis situations until Administration can respond.
- Communicate with law enforcement agencies when needed.
- Work closely with other departmental personnel to ensure safety and good order.
- Consult with staff on youth behaviors and to identify possible solutions to work related problems.
- Conduct security searches to minimize contraband at the facility.
- Complete reports and documentation pertinent to facility operations.
What We're Looking For
- Coursework, training, or experience in social work, criminal justice, counseling and guidance, human development and the family, psychology, behavioral health care, education, social/behavioral sciences, delinquency prevention, or a related area.
- Experience leading, coordinating, directing, monitoring, and/or supervising others.
- A valid driver's license.
- A high school diploma.
- Proficiency in English including the ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend the language effectively.
