As the Part-Time Men's Volleyball Head Coach, you will direct all facets of the program at Penn State Schuylkill, shaping a competitive and development-focused team environment. Your responsibilities include designing and leading practices, making strategic decisions during matches, and fostering growth in each athlete’s performance, academics, and personal character.
Program Leadership
You will build and sustain a team culture rooted in integrity, respect, and accountability. This includes setting a clear vision aligned with institutional values, mentoring student-athletes, and promoting service-learning initiatives that reinforce life skills such as responsibility and community engagement.
Recruitment and Compliance
Recruit and evaluate prospective players who meet academic standards and demonstrate athletic potential. Maintain active communication with recruits and their families while ensuring all efforts follow PSUAC, USCAA, and NCAA Division III regulations. You will also support compliance across all team activities and travel coordination.
Collaboration and Development
Work closely with the Athletic Director and campus partners to manage daily operations, supervise events, and recommend athletes for honors and awards. You’ll also contribute to community service programming and support student-athlete academic progress.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Coaching or playing experience at the high school level or above
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass motor vehicle and criminal background checks, including PA State Police, Child Abuse History Clearance, and FBI fingerprinting
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
A bachelor’s degree and collegiate coaching experience are highly preferred. Familiarity with volleyball strategy, skill development, and compliance frameworks is essential. The role operates primarily on-site at Penn State Schuylkill, with remote or hybrid arrangements not guaranteed.
