VP of Engineering Location: Leuven (BE) – with close collaboration across Munich and other European hubs Build the Category Leader in Mobile App Security Guardsquare is the global leader in mobile application protection. We protect 1000+ customers across 85+ countries, securing more than 6 billion mobile devices worldwide. With a team of ~200 people, we are now entering an ambitious new chapter. Our goal is bold: become the undisputed category king in mobile application security in the next 5 years. To achieve this, we are seeking an exceptional VP of Engineering — a dedicated builder and people leader — to achieve our goals. The Opportunity You will lead and scale an R&D organization of 100+ engineers, primarily in Leuven & Munich, with additional teams across other European hubs. You will focus on creating alignment and driving delivery across the various teams. Our complex, threat-driven domain—rooted in security research—requires comfort with ambiguity, guiding discovery, and ensuring execution without stifling innovation. You will shape the engineering organization for its next phase of international expansion and growth, building scalable structures while preserving our creative spirit. What You Will Own Leadership & Culture - Be the on-site energizer and leader for engineers, fostering a highly motivated environment. - Instill a culture of ownership, craftsmanship, and bias for action in R&D delivery. - Lead with clarity, high standards, and act hands-on when necessary (firefighter mentality). Organizational Growth & Execution - Evolve R&D into scalable, clearly-owned engineering groups tailored for complex, research-heavy product delivery. - Lead hiring, talent development and efficiently integrate acquisitions. - Ensure reliable, high-quality product delivery and predictable releases, balancing exploration with market needs. Platform & Strategy - Advance a cohesive platform vision (protection, testing, threat telemetry, attestation). - Maintain strong technical credibility and guide the pragmatic adoption of modern tooling, including AI-based tools. - Partner closely with the CTO to co-design processes and translate strategy into execution.
