Role Overview

This position serves as both President and Chief Executive Officer of a national student-led federation, providing strategic leadership and managing daily operations for the 2026–2027 term. As the top volunteer executive, you will oversee programming, financial stewardship, communications, human resources, and public engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the organization as its principal officer, guiding operational and programmatic direction
  • Supervise internal systems related to finance, staffing, outreach, and media relations
  • Ensure adherence to federal regulations including the Income Tax Act, the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act, and Canada Revenue Agency requirements
  • Identify and respond to challenges in education such as mental health access, equity gaps, student utility, post-secondary transitions, and self-advocacy capacity
  • Promote the organization’s mission through consistent public representation and stakeholder engagement

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be an individual person, not an organization or corporate entity
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or someone granted refugee protection under Canadian law
  • Reside in the province of Ontario
  • Be enrolled in an Ontario publicly funded school board—either English or French, secular or Catholic
  • Be entering grade 10, 11, 12, or 13 in September 2026
  • Not be legally declared incapacitated by a court in Canada or abroad
  • Not be in active bankruptcy

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Familiarity with the federation’s programs, services, and governance structure
  • Working understanding of nonprofit management in areas such as finance, communications, HR, and public relations
  • Knowledge of Canadian nonprofit legal and regulatory frameworks
  • Clear awareness of systemic barriers in education and how current programs aim to reduce them

Compensation and Work Arrangement

This is a volunteer role based in Ontario. No salary, equity, or financial compensation is provided. The position requires remote coordination with periodic in-person or virtual meetings as needed.
