Responsibilities
- Act as the official instructor and primary point of contact for all assigned courses and grade levels
- Consistently strive to achieve targets for academic performance, student culture, and state-mandated accountability standards
- Conduct live, interactive lessons through web conferencing, tailored to student needs and grounded in proven teaching methods
- Set up and organize each course within the online learning platform
- Monitor student activity in self-paced courses and provide daily grading and feedback
- Maintain regular contact and track engagement for every enrolled student
- Work with the school leader to produce and distribute student progress updates
- Analyze individual student data regularly to adjust and improve instruction
- Adapt teaching strategies to support diverse learning needs and abilities
- Apply evidence-based instructional techniques in both live and independent learning settings
- Foster a positive, supportive, and inclusive virtual classroom atmosphere
- Incorporate culturally relevant practices in all interactions with students, families, and staff
- Uphold school-wide behavioral and cultural expectations within and outside the classroom
- Maintain consistent communication with families about academic progress and personal development
- Integrate modern digital tools and skills into daily instruction and team collaboration
- Assist in organizing and attend school events such as field trips and social gatherings in person
- Work cooperatively, respectfully, and with humility across teams and departments
- Travel annually to support state-required in-person assessments
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by leadership
Other
- Travel and face to face attendance will be required several times per year to support in person state testing and student events
- Eligibility: Open to residents of West Virginia
- Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks
