Natera is looking for a Vice President of Engineering, UX/Commercial Applications to lead a 100+ person engineering organization responsible for our commercial software platforms. This role focuses on strengthening execution, raising engineering standards, and advancing AI-enabled product and development capabilities.
What You'll Do
- Lead and scale a 100+ engineer organization through Directors and Sr. Directors
- Improve delivery predictability, engineering velocity, and production quality
- Strengthen planning, estimation, and development processes
- Raise the bar on accountability and ownership
- Develop strong engineering leaders and succession depth
- Expand the use of Generative AI across patient and provider workflows
- Scale AI-powered automation for chat/voice, document processing, and operational workflows
- Ensure AI solutions are secure, reliable, and production-ready
- Drive thoughtful adoption of AI-assisted development tools
- Improve SDLC efficiency through automation and modern tooling
- Build engineering practices that effectively leverage AI
What We're Looking For
- 15+ years of software engineering experience
- 6+ years leading large engineering organizations (50-150+ engineers)
- Strong technical depth in cloud-native distributed systems
- Experience deploying AI/ML or GenAI solutions in production environments
- Track record of improving execution, quality, and engineering effectiveness
- Technically strong and comfortable being in the weeds when needed
- Detail-oriented and execution-focused
- Low-ego, calm, pragmatic, and decisive
- Experienced leading in fast-paced, growth environments
- Focused on raising standards without adding unnecessary bureaucracy
Nice to Have
- AWS experience
- Experience building scalable, highly available platforms
- Deep understanding of modern web stacks (APIs, React, TypeScript, services)
- Experience leading platform modernization and reliability improvements
- Comfortable engaging deeply in architecture reviews and technical decisions
