Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) is hiring a Vice President for its Change Management Office. This strategic role is responsible for overseeing and driving key programs and projects, ensuring successful delivery aligned with business goals and mid-term plans.
What You'll Do
- Plan and define the scope of the overall program and its individual projects
- Develop detailed project plans, key objectives, milestones, and progress tracking mechanisms
- Define tasks and required resources, managing team members and subject matter experts
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders, resources, and external parties to execute projects
- Manage and mitigate project risks to deliver on-time, within scope, and budget
- Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders across the organization
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
- Report portfolio status and escalate issues to senior management; arrange regular cadences with management and project committees
- Manage changes to project scope, timeline, and budget
- Coordinate dependency management between different projects within the portfolio
- Participate in global forums to create alignment and standardization with other regions
What We're Looking For
- A Degree or Master's degree in banking and finance, business administration, or a related field
- 7 to 10 years of experience in the financial sector, with proven experience leading corporate banking projects
- Strong experience managing large-scale, front-to-back projects, including business, regulatory, digitalization, and process improvement initiatives
- Good appreciation of digitalization trends such as big data and AI, particularly within the financial industry
- Confidence in leading discussions with senior management, building consensus, and influencing change
- Ability to bridge business needs and technical requirements, translating them into project deliverables and results
- A collaborative, team-oriented mindset
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong problem-solving and leadership capabilities
- Proficiency in the Japanese language is required due to frequent liaison with the Tokyo Head Office
Nice to Have
- Project management certifications such as PMP and CAPM
- Process improvement skills and certifications such as Lean Six Sigma or Scrum/Agile methodologies
