Anglo American / De Beers Group is hiring a Ventilation Officer (VO)

We are seeking an experienced and values-driven Ventilation Officer to join our Aquila team. In this critical statutory role, you will be responsible for managing mine ventilation and gas systems to ensure a safe, efficient, and high-performing underground operation. This role provides expert technical advice, supports short- and medium-term planning, and ensures best-practice ventilation and gas management systems are in place to optimise safety and production outcomes. Key Responsibilities: - Champion a strong safety culture, conduct inspections and audits, ensure incidents are effectively managed, and maintain compliance with legislation and site standards. - Fulfil statutory Ventilation Officer responsibilities, overseeing mine ventilation and gas systems to ensure safe and efficient operations. - Provide expert ventilation and gas management advice to the Mine Manager to support operational performance and mine optimisation. - Develop and communicate ventilation and gas management plans aligned with short-, medium-, and long-term mine planning. - Conduct gas monitoring (including bag sampling), track system performance, and recommend improvements. - Monitor system performance and recommend improvements to optimise safety and efficiency. - Work closely with operations, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver team objectives and continuous improvement initiatives. - Identify opportunities to enhance safety, productivity, and system performance through innovation and technology.
