Robots and Pencils is looking for a UX/UI Designer for a strategic role focused on translating client ambiguity into actionable vision and shipping products through phased rollouts. You will act as a builder, strategist, and translator, moving fluidly between research, prototyping, and client conversations.
What You'll Do
- Navigate ambiguity and shape solutions by working directly with clients and stakeholders to uncover the real problem.
- Define pragmatic solutions that ship and scale, framing product strategy as proof-of-concept to pilot to phased rollout.
- Build rapidly with AI-assisted tooling to create functional prototypes that go beyond static mockups.
- Generate interactive experiences for stakeholders to touch and react to.
- Leverage AI to accelerate research synthesis, turning transcripts and data into personas, journeys, and opportunity maps.
- Design in Figma and leverage/manage a design system.
- Facilitate research sessions with end users and act on feedback.
- Learn new AI tooling to speed up design and development collaboration.
What We're Looking For
- AI-Assisted Prototyping Fluency: Integrated AI tools into your design workflow as a core capability. Can go from concept to functional prototype in hours.
- Research Synthesis Muscle: Can plan and conduct user interviews and own the full loop from facilitating research to synthesizing it into a strategic narrative.
- Ambiguity Navigation: Thrive when the brief is vague, stakeholders disagree, and the path forward isn't obvious.
- Strategic Framing: Think in terms of phased approaches, not final deliverables. Can articulate the big vision and break it into achievable steps.
Technical Stack
- Figma
- AI-assisted prototyping tools (Claude Code, Cursor, v0, etc.)
- Figma Code Connect
