About the Role
This position involves delivering accurate accounting and tax preparation services for US-based clients, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations while maintaining timely communication and high-quality deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review federal and state tax returns for individuals and businesses
- Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with US GAAP
- Communicate directly with clients to gather documentation and clarify financial details
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes
- Ensure compliance with IRS regulations and filing deadlines
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements
- Assist with payroll tax filings and reporting
- Respond to client inquiries regarding accounting and tax matters
- Collaborate with team members on complex tax scenarios
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks and Xero
- Prepare financial statements including balance sheets and income statements
- Conduct account analysis to identify discrepancies
- Maintain client confidentiality and data security
- Stay current with changes in US tax laws and regulations
- Provide documentation for audits and tax notices
Nice to Have
- Experience with 1040, 1120, and 1065 tax forms
- Background in public accounting or tax services
- Knowledge of tax software such as ProSeries or Lacerte
- Prior work with international clients
- Understanding of US expatriate tax issues
