About the Role

What You'll Do

Deliver a five-week academic program tailored to high school students preparing for college success. You will develop dynamic, interactive lessons in subjects such as Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Foreign Language, Composition, or Literature, aligning with the goals of the TRIO Upward Bound Program. Your instruction will emphasize critical thinking, academic confidence, and intellectual growth.

Design curriculum materials, including assignments, grading criteria, and lesson schedules, ensuring alignment with learning outcomes. Use technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance student engagement and comprehension. Evaluate student work thoughtfully and consistently, providing meaningful feedback to support progress.

Collaborate with program staff to identify students who would benefit from additional academic support and contribute to tutoring efforts when needed. Help cultivate a classroom culture rooted in respect, curiosity, and mutual support, where all students feel empowered to participate and grow.

Requirements

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in the subject area, or demonstrate fluency in the language being taught
  • Have at least one year of teaching experience at the undergraduate level or possess a high school teaching certificate (grades 9–12)
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Show strong communication skills when working with high school-aged students
  • Complete a BCI/FBI background check prior to starting the position

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates who are currently enrolled in or have completed graduate studies with experience applying statistical methods to real-world research problems may be given preference.
