About the Role
The Unit Coordinator plays a central role in maintaining operational efficiency by handling clerical responsibilities, coordinating patient admissions and transfers, and serving as a liaison between staff, patients, and families.
Responsibilities
- Manage incoming calls, messages, and correspondence for the unit
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and logs
- Assist with scheduling appointments and procedures
- Coordinate patient admissions, discharges, and transfers
- Support clinical staff with documentation and data entry
- Order and manage office and medical supplies
- Ensure compliance with confidentiality and privacy policies
- Monitor and update whiteboards and tracking systems
- Facilitate communication between healthcare providers and support teams
- Verify patient information and insurance details
- Assist with preparation of reports and statistical data
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace
- Respond to requests from patients and families with professionalism
- Assist in maintaining safety and security protocols
- Support quality improvement initiatives through accurate recordkeeping
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions
- Follow emergency procedures and protocols as needed
- Assist with onboarding new team members
- Track and report on unit metrics and performance indicators
- Ensure all forms and consents are properly completed
- Coordinate with environmental services and dietary staff
- Maintain logs for medications, visitors, and incidents
- Support infection control practices
- Assist with patient transport arrangements
- Uphold regulatory and accreditation standards

Physical Demands
