GitLab is looking for an Underwriting Assistant to provide crucial support for our underwriting team, focusing on specialty insurance products. You will be key in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of submission processing, policy issuance, and account documentation.
What You'll Do
- Establish new submissions in the clearance system and handle them according to established procedures.
- Assist Underwriters with quote, binder, and policy issuance workflow.
- Gather and organize supporting information and reports, such as loss runs, risk assessments, and loss ratings.
- Assist the Underwriter with the computation of rates and premiums.
- Review incoming insurance applications for accuracy and completeness.
- Participate in creating and developing the team's underwriting workflows and processes, including underwriting files for all bound accounts.
- Work with and follow up with producers for any outstanding information.
- Process and distribute insurance binders, endorsements, and policies within established processing standards.
- Prepare all policies in accordance with final binders, inclusive of review by underwriting staff.
- Manage all account documentation.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor's Degree.
- 1-3 years of underwriting experience.
- Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
