Tetra Tech is looking for a Transportation Roadway Design Engineer to support the planning and design of roadway and multimodal infrastructure projects. In this entry-level to early career role, you will gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced engineers on highway, arterial, local roadway, and multimodal transportation projects.
What You’ll Do
- Support the design of highways, arterials, local roadways, shared-use paths, and other multimodal improvements.
- Develop roadway, signing, pavement marking, traffic signal, drainage, and traffic control plans.
- Perform roadway 3D modeling using applicable design software.
- Prepare quantity calculations and cost estimates.
- Conduct site visits to support data collection and the design process.
- Prepare alternative evaluation studies, technical memoranda, and similar reports.
- Collaborate with project teams and technical specialists to support project delivery.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (transportation focus preferred).
- Entry-level experience, up to two (2) years.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or intent to pursue Professional Engineer licensure.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to travel periodically (approximately 15% or more).
Nice to Have
- Coursework related to transportation engineering.
- Experience with MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, and/or Civil 3D.
- Internship or consulting experience in transportation or roadway design.
