This position supports the planning, design, and execution of roadway and multimodal transportation infrastructure projects. The engineer will use advanced design tools and collaborate with experienced professionals to deliver transportation solutions.
Responsibilities
- Assist in designing highways, arterials, local roads, shared-use paths, and other multimodal transportation improvements.
- Create plans for roadways, signage, pavement markings, traffic signals, drainage systems, and traffic control measures.
- Carry out 3D roadway modeling using relevant design software platforms.
- Generate quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for project components.
- Conduct site visits to gather field data and support design development.
- Prepare studies, technical reports, and evaluation memos for project alternatives.
- Work with project teams and technical experts to advance project delivery.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, with a preference for transportation-related focus.
- Up to two years of professional experience in engineering.
- Hold Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or be actively pursuing Professional Engineer licensure.
- Possess a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Available for periodic travel, estimated at 15% or more of work time.
Nice to Have
- Completed academic coursework in transportation engineering.
- Experience using MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, or Civil 3D.
- Prior internship or consulting experience in transportation or roadway design projects.
