This fully remote position supports the tax operations of a major healthcare organization and its affiliates, reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Taxation. The Senior Tax Consultant plays a key role in ensuring accurate and timely compliance across federal, state, and local jurisdictions, with a focus on tax-exempt entities.
Tax Compliance & Reporting
The consultant will manage the preparation, review, and submission of critical tax forms including Form 990, Form 990-T, Massachusetts Forms PC and M-990T, Form 1120, and Forms 5500. Responsibilities extend to foreign, state, and local filings, property tax submissions such as Form 3ABC, and international reporting requirements including FATCA and CRS disclosures. The role also involves handling IRS Certificates of Tax Residency and tax reporting for foreign nationals, including Forms 8233 and non-resident withholding compliance.
Tax Research & Advisory
The consultant will analyze complex tax issues affecting nonprofit healthcare organizations, including unrelated business income, tax-exempt bonds, IRC Section 501(r) compliance, and cross-border tax implications. This includes interpreting tax law changes, documenting developments, and communicating impacts across the organization. The role supports audits and inquiries from tax authorities and provides guidance on non-standard compensation and benefits reporting.
Qualifications & Skills
A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required, along with 3–5 years of experience in public accounting focused on nonprofit taxation or in-house tax roles within the nonprofit sector. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of nonprofit tax regulations, Form 990 requirements, and the operational impact of tax rules on healthcare entities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and web-based applications is essential. A CPA, MST, or JD is preferred, as is experience in nonprofit healthcare.
