Responsibilities
- Administer federal grants related to transportation infrastructure projects
- Monitor project compliance with engineering standards and federal guidelines
- Review technical submittals from grant recipients for accuracy and completeness
- Coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies on grant implementation
- Track project milestones and deliverables to ensure timely execution
- Conduct site visits to evaluate project progress and engineering quality
- Prepare reports on grant performance and project outcomes
- Support financial oversight of grant-funded activities
- Facilitate resolution of technical and administrative issues
- Ensure environmental and safety regulations are followed
- Manage documentation for grant closeout processes
- Provide technical guidance to recipients on engineering requirements
- Evaluate engineering designs for feasibility and code compliance
- Assist in developing grant program policies and procedures
- Respond to inquiries from stakeholders regarding grant status
- Participate in audits and reviews of grant activities
- Maintain accurate records of project correspondence and decisions
- Support training initiatives for grant recipients
- Identify risks in project execution and recommend mitigation strategies
- Promote equity and accessibility in transportation projects
- Use data systems to track grant performance metrics
- Ensure adherence to federal procurement standards
- Collaborate on interagency initiatives related to infrastructure
- Assist in the development of funding opportunity announcements
- Support continuous improvement of grant management processes
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, transportation planning, or related field
- Minimum of five years of experience in transportation engineering or grant management
- Familiarity with federal transportation funding programs
- Knowledge of engineering design principles and construction practices
- Experience reviewing technical engineering documents
- Strong understanding of federal grant regulations and compliance
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in project management software and databases
- Experience conducting site inspections or field reviews
- Ability to interpret engineering plans and specifications
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills in technical environments
- Experience working with government agencies or contractors
- Understanding of environmental review processes
- Familiarity with transportation safety standards
- Ability to prepare detailed reports and presentations

Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in engineering, public administration, or urban planning
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Certified Grants Manager (CGM) or similar credential

- Prior work on transit or highway projects
- Familiarity with NEPA and related environmental laws
- Experience with performance-based grant frameworks
