About the Role
The role involves leading engineering efforts for high-voltage primary systems in transmission and distribution networks, focusing on design, analysis, and project delivery within regulatory frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of high-voltage electrical system designs for transmission and distribution networks
- Perform power system studies including load flow, short circuit, and protection coordination
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings and specifications for high-voltage installations
- Ensure designs comply with national and international electrical standards and codes
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on complex infrastructure projects
- Support project management with technical oversight and scheduling
- Review contractor submittals and construction documentation
- Conduct field surveys and site assessments for project planning
- Develop single-line diagrams and schematics for electrical systems
- Coordinate with clients and regulatory bodies on design approvals
- Perform arc flash and power quality studies when required
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance
- Manage engineering deliverables within budget and timeline constraints
- Integrate sustainability practices into system design
- Troubleshoot technical issues during construction and commissioning
- Support business development through technical proposals
- Apply engineering software tools for modeling and simulation
- Ensure safety compliance in all design phases
- Review equipment specifications for transformers, switchgear, and protection systems
- Assist in the development of construction specifications and bid documents
- Participate in design review meetings and client presentations
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and technologies
- Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes
- Work on both greenfield and retrofit projects
- Support operations with post-construction evaluations
