Vehicle Maintenance Technician - Grade B Transdev in East Hartford, CT is actively recruiting a skilled B-Level Diesel Mechanic to enhance our operational team. The position requires proficiency in evaluating, fixing, and maintaining diesel powertrains across multiple vehicle types and machinery. As our Diesel Mechanic, you'll be instrumental in guaranteeing vehicle safety, operational efficiency, and extended equipment lifespan. Non-Union Position: Competitive salary range of minimum $26.00 – maximum $27.30 * Additional $0.25 hourly bonus for ASE certifications up to 4 Benefits Package: • Vacation: minimum of one (1) week • Sick days: 5 days • Holidays: 12 days; 8 standard and 4 floating • Comprehensive benefits: 401(k) retirement plan, medical, dental and vision, life insurance, short-term disability, voluntary long-term disability • Company-sponsored ASE testing, training resources, and tool reimbursement Primary Responsibilities: • Execute diagnostic evaluations using sophisticated tools and software to identify diesel engine complications • Implement moderate complexity repairs and component replacements ensuring optimal system functionality • Support Senior Mechanics during advanced diagnostic and repair operations • Implement preventative maintenance protocols to minimize equipment failures • Spearhead comprehensive diagnostic investigations to pinpoint intricate mechanical issues • Conduct advanced troubleshooting and restoration procedures on diesel powertrains • Mentor junior technicians, fostering skill development and professional growth • Perform additional assigned tasks as required Required Qualifications: • Demonstrated Diesel Mechanic experience • ASE certifications mandatory; certification program provided • Complete mechanic's toolset • Flexibility to work variable shifts • Subject to DOT drug screening and medical evaluation Physical Demands: • Operate in outdoor environments with variable weather conditions - 100% exterior work • Sustain prolonged sitting (6-8 hours daily) • Navigate extended walking distances across uneven terrain • Manipulate objects up to 20 pounds repeatedly; lift loads to 50 pounds • Endure high-traffic areas with potential dust, vehicle emissions, and noise exposure Reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.
