Trilon Group is hiring a Traffic Engineering Practice Lead to build and guide our traffic engineering practice in Pennsylvania. You will provide technical leadership on a range of transportation projects while helping to grow a strong local team for our expanding market. This role is ideal for an experienced traffic engineer focused on practice development and mentorship.
What You'll Do
- Lead traffic engineering tasks including traffic studies, capacity analysis, modeling, signal design, safety studies, and corridor evaluations.
- Prepare reports, technical memos, plans, and supporting documentation.
- Manage and oversee traffic components for roadway and planning projects, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
- Develop signal timing plans, ITS layouts, signing and pavement marking plans, and traffic control plans.
- Use analysis and modeling tools such as Synchro, HCS, VISSIM, SIDRA, or related software.
- Collaborate closely with roadway, structural, planning, survey, and environmental groups.
- Train, mentor, and support junior traffic staff.
- Participate in client meetings, presentations, and coordination with municipalities and state agencies.
- Support proposal development, scoping, and business development efforts as we expand our Pennsylvania presence.
- Ensure compliance with PennDOT, MUTCD, and AASHTO requirements.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) preferred; ability to obtain PA PE if not already licensed.
- 15+ years of traffic engineering experience; prior consulting experience is required.
- Proficiency with traffic analysis tools such as Synchro, HCS, VISSIM, SIDRA, or similar.
- Strong understanding of MUTCD standards, PennDOT requirements, and traffic engineering principles.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience working on PennDOT projects or with local municipal clients.
- PTOE certification.
- Experience contributing to or leading traffic teams in a consulting environment.

Work Mode
This role is based locally in one of our Pennsylvania offices: Hermitage, Cranberry, or Waynesburg.
