Lead the future of transportation solutions as a Traffic Engineer III in either Charleston or Columbia, SC. In this role, you will guide technical direction, manage high-impact traffic engineering projects, and serve as a mentor to emerging professionals. You'll play a central role in advancing traffic engineering services for SCDOT and municipal agencies, ensuring deliverables meet rigorous quality standards while aligning with strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the execution of traffic engineering projects, overseeing scope, schedule, budget, and quality control from start to finish.
- Conduct in-depth reviews of technical deliverables and implement quality management protocols to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Lead and develop junior engineers through coaching, performance feedback, and career guidance.
- Collaborate with national practice leaders to refine technical methodologies and promote best practices across the organization.
- Support business development by contributing to proposals, client meetings, and win-to-work strategies.
- Build strategic alliances with peer firms to expand service reach and pursue new project opportunities.
- Coordinate resource planning, task prioritization, and team staffing to maintain project efficiency and workforce development.
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in Civil, Transportation, or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program and possess a valid Professional Engineer (PE) license. A minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in traffic engineering is required, with demonstrated leadership in technical decision-making. Strong communication skills are essential for engaging stakeholders, leading teams, and presenting complex information clearly.
Preferred qualifications include a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification, proven success managing SCDOT projects, and experience supervising engineering teams. Proficiency in traffic analysis tools and design documentation software is expected.
