Responsibilities
- Examine and process official communications from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, foreign agencies, and international representatives.
- Input, update, and manage precise docket entries in the CPi system for trademarks, domain names, customs registrations, and copyrights, covering prosecution, agreements, disputes, and proceedings before the TTAB or similar bodies.
- Perform worldwide audits of docket data; issue deadline alerts, docket summaries, and client portfolio reports as required.
- Manage the intake of client trademark portfolios, including data conversion, deadline alignment, and verification after migration.
- Monitor and schedule evidence of use submissions and maintenance filings such as Sections 8, 9, and 71 to sustain trademark rights.
- Collaborate with overseas counsel to initiate new cases, verify local deadlines, collect powers of attorney, legalizations, translations, and confirm filing receipts.
- Record and manage changes in ownership, such as assignments, mergers, and name updates, ensuring proper registration with the USPTO, WIPO/Madrid, and foreign offices.
- Obtain and assess trademark records and documents from USPTO, WIPO/Madrid, foreign IP databases, and paid services, verifying status, deadlines, and bibliographic accuracy.
- Support the evaluation of global trademark watch alerts by logging key details and deadlines, and preparing summaries for legal review.
- Assist in conducting due diligence searches for trademarks and domain names, handle research tasks, and produce organized reports, schedules, and data exports.
- Conduct regular, comprehensive audits of trademark portfolios to ensure data accuracy and system integrity.
- Train incoming staff on docketing protocols and stay informed on evolving trademark and intellectual property regulations.
- Deliver ongoing administrative and docketing assistance to legal teams as needed.
