At Astemo Americas, we are looking for a Trade Compliance Specialist to join our team. Under the direct supervision of higher-level management, you will exercise independent judgment to support trade compliance, customs business, and tariff cost recovery, ensuring our documented policies and procedures are followed.
What You'll Do
- Participate in corporate decision-making to protect the company through oversight of trade compliance and documented policies.
- Support the management of broker partnerships and monitor broker performance.
- Support tariff tracking management and drive tariff recovery projects for all Astemo customers.
- Support post-entry activities (PSC, Protest, etc.) for Astemo sites, particularly due to tariff regulation changes.
- Ensure Astemo Americas sites follow the latest trade policies and the best import methods while maintaining high regulatory compliance.
- Support oversight for Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification and Schedule B.
- Assist brokers with managing and executing company standard procedures.
- Monitor and apply duty savings protocols.
- As needed, utilize the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) for export control and assign appropriate ECCNs for export compliance.
- Support and ensure company pre-export screening procedures are executed.
- Support Prohibited Parties screening activities.
- Support Trade Compliance staff with other government agency requirements (EPA, NHTSA, FCC, FDA, FAA, etc.).
- Support Trade Compliance staff with country-of-origin analysis (19CFR 134) and COO marking (19CFR 102) as required.
- Serve as a resource on trade agreements and other reporting programs (USMCA, KORUS, AALA, CAFE, Manufacturers Affidavit, etc.).
- Support periodic recordkeeping audits.
- Ensure import/export document retention per company policy.
- Utilize Incoterms and provide guidance to employees for proper use.
- Provide continuing education for employees.
- Complete annual internal audits.
- Support the annual updates of the Import and Export Manuals according to new regulations and/or company procedures.
What We're Looking For
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Proficient in Automated Commercial Environment (ACE Customs portal).
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project.
- High level of customer interface experience.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
- Well organized and detail oriented.
- Possess a 4-year college degree.
- 5 years of industry experience.
Nice to Have
- Customs Broker License strongly preferred.
