The University of British Columbia (UBC) is seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Tool Crib/Store Operator to manage the central tool crib and provide expert customer service. In this role, you will ensure the efficient receiving, storage, distribution, and inventory control of tools, equipment, furniture, and supplies, supporting the operational needs of the university.
What You'll Do
- Provide expertise and advice to users on the usage, maintenance, and selection of tools, equipment, furniture, supplies, and other materials.
- Source new tools, equipment, furniture, and supplies; facilitate procurement, make recommendations, obtain quotations.
- Receive, store, and distribute tools, equipment, furniture, and other supplies.
- Perform regular inventory checks and random spot checks to ensure all items are maintained and accounted for.
- Ensure tools, equipment, and supplies meet technical quality and required compliance standards for design and project needs.
- Document and maintain manual and electronic records of all items as required.
- Perform routine maintenance; inspect items for damage and operating condition; arrange for repair or replacement.
- Arrange for the renting of tools, equipment, and supplies not available in the department.
- Provide training to borrowers in the proper handling and operation of all tools, equipment, furniture, and supplies.
- Develop a vendor delivery schedule; provide regular courier service to trades shops for issuing and returning items.
- Operate forklift, other equipment, and fleet as required.
- Follow and adhere to established security and safety measures; ensure the workplace is safe.
- Carry out any other related duties as required.
What We're Looking For
- High school graduation and a minimum of five years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of tools and equipment used across various trades.
- A valid class 5 BC Driver’s License.
- Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one’s own.
- A demonstrated commitment to enhancing one’s own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Nice to Have
- Proficient use of MS Office, particularly MS Excel.
- Experience with an inventory management system.

Benefits & Compensation
- Monthly salary range: $5,655.00 - $6,071.00 CAD
