Amentum is looking for a Textile Engineer III to join our team supporting the PM Soldier Survivability (PM SSV) project office under Program Executive Office (PEO) Soldier. You will be responsible for applying advanced theories and knowledge of textile materials to develop Functional Combat, Environmentally Protective, and Specialized Clothing Systems for Warfighters.
What You'll Do
- Apply advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes requiring broad knowledge of textile materials.
- Assist in the research, design, development, fabrication, test and evaluation, and materials integration of complex systems for Warfighter and Soldier platforms.
- Establish requirements for integration issues to protect against threats such as Environmental, Chemical, Biological, Flame, and Detection.
- Resolve complex problems associated with the protection, survivability, and lethality of Warfighters and Soldiers in various combat and utility environments.
- Coordinate and conduct materiel system investigations and analysis to determine feasibility of advanced technological approaches, define design concepts, or resolve major problems.
- Plan, organize, direct, and coordinate development programs to ensure technological approaches are adhered to in the development, integration, and manufacturing of materials and Combat and Specialized Clothing Systems.
- Review and evaluate system performance against specification requirements, monitor and assess field performance, and assess risk of meeting user and specification requirements.
- Identify material/end-item deficiencies, propose sound technological concepts, recommend development programs, and prepare funding estimates and time phasing requirements.
- Initiate engineering change proposals and waivers/deviations as required.
- Maintain extensive liaison with other agencies to exchange information on related developments and obtain cooperative and/or transition agreements.
- Assist in developing joint programs with industry to facilitate research in manufacturing processes and transition fabrication methodology for military clothing.
- Manage program and project fiscal resources allocated for RDTE programs and customer projects.
- Deliver briefings and prepare reports to include interpretations, conclusions, and recommendations.
- Maintain active contact with industry, academia, and other organizations involved with research and development of related areas.
- Review program management documents to ensure accuracy and adequacy of technical content.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
- Ten (10) years of relative experience.
- Active US Government Secret Clearance.
- US Citizenship.
- Subject matter expert for Textile engineering materials, development, integration, and manufacturing.
- Ability to lead engineering efforts on assigned programs with minimal oversight from the government lead.
