This temporary position supports nutrition education initiatives for low-income populations across Erie, Niagara, Genesee, Wyoming, and Orleans Counties. The selected candidate will deliver structured SNAP-Ed programming to audiences of all ages, using established curricula in both in-person and virtual settings. Responsibilities include facilitating workshops, creating recorded educational content, and adapting materials to meet community needs while following public health guidelines.
What You'll Do
- Deliver nutrition education through group sessions, demonstrations, and presentations tailored to diverse age groups
- Develop and distribute recorded video lessons to support regional and statewide outreach
- Implement approved curricula while applying subject-matter expertise to refine lesson delivery
- Collaborate with local agencies, organizations, and fellow educators to expand program reach
- Support data collection and evaluation efforts to measure program effectiveness and inform improvements
- Assist in planning and promoting public events, including media outreach and community engagement activities
- Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with confidentiality standards
- Coordinate logistics for program delivery, including scheduling, materials management, and participant recruitment
- Represent the program professionally to community stakeholders, government representatives, and partner institutions
- Support budget planning, resource identification, and administrative functions related to program operations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health, or a closely related field; an Associate’s degree with two years of relevant experience may be considered
- Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Strong organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities
- Proficiency in Windows-based applications, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher) and internet research
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout the region, including transporting materials and working occasional evenings or weekends
- Commitment to handling sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
- Ability to work in office and community environments, including occasional lifting and setup of program supplies
- Satisfactory completion of a background check
Preferred Qualifications
- Registered Dietitian credential
- Fluency in Spanish
- Familiarity with local communities and resources in Western New York
- Experience with recipe development, food preparation, and adherence to federal nutrition guidelines
- Proven success delivering educational content to varied audiences with cultural sensitivity
Work Environment
This is an onsite position requiring regular travel within Western New York. Work hours may extend into evenings or weekends to accommodate community programming needs. The role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams and participation in training, meetings, and professional development activities. All work must align with federal, state, and organizational policies, including health and safety protocols.
