The Telecom Engineer will support the US BICES-X program by managing and maintaining secure voice, video, and data communications networks. The role operates in a fast-paced, mission-critical setting focused on intelligence sharing for Department of Defense and coalition partners, requiring strict adherence to security and performance standards.
Responsibilities
- Offers guidance and training to end-users and junior network staff
- Detects, evaluates, and resolves network issues and incidents
- Delivers technical training and support on network equipment and systems
- Defines network requirements, including input/output processes and hardware/software compatibility settings
- Demonstrates familiarity with USBICES-related hardware, software, and equipment
- Contributes to special projects as directed
- Evaluates, manages, and sustains voice, video, and data communication networks
- Oversees network utilization and performance across voice, video, and data systems
- Ensures network operations meet enterprise availability and service level agreement standards
- Applies IT Service Management (ITSM) principles to classify, prioritize, escalate, and resolve network incidents
- Maintains network security and enforces compliance with established security policies
- Supports the creation and execution of network procedures and standards
- Collaborates with vendors to ensure timely resolution during network outages or degraded performance
- Helps develop third-party monitoring protocols and actions for network infrastructure
Requirements
- Holds IAT Level II or higher certification, such as CompTIA Security+, GSEC, or SCNP
- Has 10 or more years of relevant experience
- Must hold and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance
- Possesses a BA/BS degree; additional experience may substitute for degree
- Must have a completed CCNA certification
- Meets DOD 8750 requirements, eligible for IAT Level II access upon hire, and must obtain ITIL V4 Foundation within six months
- May be required to obtain additional certifications based on job assignment
- Has knowledge and experience with routing and switching protocols including OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, Spanning Tree Protocol, ISAKMP, ESP, SIP, and SCCP
- Demonstrates experience with current Cisco IOS software and hardware features
- Has experience with HAIPE-based encryption devices
- Can operate efficiently in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and maintain high-quality output
- Has direct experience working with hardware vendors during incident resolution
- Has worked with various software systems, architectures, communication protocols, and network hardware
- Has experience with STIG patching, compliance, and other security-related tasks
- Work is performed at client sites, requiring safety awareness and occasional physical effort handling light materials, boxes, or equipment
Nice to Have
- Has completed CCNP Enterprise or JNCIS-ENT certification
- Has knowledge and experience with VoIP and VTC collaboration systems
- Has experience with Multicast and GRE routing
- Understands virtualization technologies in networking, including VMware, Citrix, and Microsoft
- Has experience in data center networking
- Has worked with firewalls and firewall rule configurations
- Understands network virtualization concepts

Compensation
Pay Range $73,450.00 - $132,775.00
