Technician II CO₂ Operator - Dry Ice Blasting
Role Overview
This position is for a skilled technician who can independently manage dry ice blasting operations in a variety of industrial, manufacturing, and commercial environments. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and capable of delivering consistent, high-quality surface cleaning with minimal oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and dismantle CO₂ blasting equipment following established safety and operational procedures.
- Adjust blasting parameters—including pressure, media flow, and nozzle type—based on material type and cleaning requirements.
- Inspect job sites prior to work, document conditions, and verify alignment with project scope.
- Ensure protection of surrounding areas and maintain a clean, organized worksite throughout the operation.
- Conduct post-cleaning inspections to confirm effectiveness and prevent substrate damage.
- Report any scope changes, site hazards, or equipment issues promptly to supervisors.
- Complete all required documentation, including digital logs, photos, and field notes, using the company's work management system.
- Operate and maintain company vehicles, including pickup trucks and box trucks, and safely tow compressors and equipment trailers.
- Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on tools, vehicles, and blasting systems.
- Follow all safety standards for handling compressed gases, high-pressure systems, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Adhere to transportation regulations and company vehicle policies.
- Engage in ongoing safety training, driver evaluations, and equipment compliance checks.
- Interact professionally with clients, facility personnel, and other contractors on-site.
- Communicate job progress, access needs, and completion clearly and respectfully.
- Support training initiatives for junior technicians when assigned.
- Participate in special projects, equipment testing, or process improvements as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Demonstrated experience in mechanical, technical, or industrial roles.
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving history.
- Ability to operate and maintain vehicles and trailers used in field operations.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds unassisted and 100 pounds with help.
- Comfortable working on feet for extended periods, including standing, bending, and kneeling.
- Proficient with hand and power tools, industrial equipment, and vehicle operation.
Preferred Background
- Experience in automotive detailing, mechanical repair, or fabrication.
- Work history in manufacturing, facilities maintenance, or industrial settings.
- OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Certification.
- Familiarity with Lockout/Tagout procedures.
- Confined Space Awareness training (or willingness to obtain it).
Work Environment
This is an onsite role requiring travel to customer locations and company facilities. Work hours may include early starts, evenings, or occasional weekends to meet operational demands.
