Field Service Technician – Commissioning responsible for delivering reliable performance of gas-powered engine systems throughout the Eastern United States. In this role, you'll conduct on-site commissioning, preventive maintenance, and corrective actions on industrial-scale engines ranging from 0.25 to 9.5 MW. These units operate on natural and alternative gases, requiring precise technical execution and safety awareness.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on mechanical and electrical servicing in line with established protocols, including component replacement, inspections, and performance measurements.
- Diagnose and resolve engine, alternator, and control system faults using analytical methods and manufacturer-aligned solutions.
- Interpret wiring diagrams, mechanical schematics, and historical operational data to guide troubleshooting and repairs.
- Conduct minor overhauls and unscheduled repairs beyond standard maintenance routines.
- Collaborate with subcontractors, suppliers, and customer teams to ensure smooth operations and clear communication.
- Document service activities in detailed technical reports, noting work performed, materials used, and recommended follow-up steps.
- Maintain tools, spare parts inventory, and company vehicle to ensure readiness and compliance.
- Submit accurate timesheets, expense records, safety forms, and job reports promptly.
- Adhere strictly to Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) standards at all worksites.
Qualifications
- Proven field service experience in power generation, diesel engines, heavy equipment, or automotive systems.
- Strong electrical aptitude, including experience wiring panels and alternators.
- Familiarity with PLCs and logic control software.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company insurability standards for driving.
- Willingness to travel up to 80%, including overnight stays and remote assignments.
- Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship, now or in the future.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with reciprocating or natural gas engines, particularly Jenbacher models.
- Proficiency in technical documentation and procedure implementation.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and customer engagement skills.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal, for clear reporting and client interaction.
- Competency with office software and control system applications.
Work Environment
This is an onsite position with primary coverage across Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Missouri. The role requires frequent regional travel and adaptability to varying site conditions.
