Role Overview
As a Junior Service Engineer, you'll play a key role in maintaining and optimizing timber treatment operations for customers throughout the UK and Europe. Your work will center on the reliable performance of treatment plants, ensuring equipment functions safely and efficiently through proactive maintenance, troubleshooting, and system upgrades.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and emergency maintenance on timber treatment systems at customer locations
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults, minimizing operational downtime
- Install and commission new systems or modifications, including control panels and pumping units
- Deliver practical training to operators on safe equipment use and chemical handling
- Prepare detailed service and condition reports after each site visit
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental protocols at customer sites
- Collaborate with team members on small-scale fabrication and integration projects
- Maintain tools, spare parts, and company vehicle in ready condition
- Travel frequently across Europe as needed to support customer operations
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum A Level education or equivalent
- Technical training in mechanical systems, including welding, hydraulics, and pneumatics
- Familiarity with pipe systems and pump technologies such as centrifugal and liquid ring types
- Electrical knowledge covering PLCs, SCADA systems, and control panel diagnostics
- Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
- Effective communication skills when working with customers and team members
- Willingness to learn and share technical knowledge
- Adaptability in dynamic workshop and field environments
- Valid driver’s license and readiness for regular travel
- Flexible availability beyond the standard 37.5-hour workweek when required
Preferred Background
- HNC, OND, BTEC, or NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Work Environment
This is a remote role based near Leeds, UK, with frequent travel across Europe. The position requires hands-on fieldwork and occasional workshop tasks. Working hours may vary to meet customer needs, and flexibility is essential.
