As a Technical Writer, you will craft straightforward, visually engaging instructional content for a range of consumer kitchen and electronic products. Your work will guide users from initial setup through everyday use, combining technical accuracy with approachable language.
What You’ll Do
- Write and edit product documentation including user manuals, quick-start guides, safety notices, and compliance materials.
- Convert engineering data and product specifications into clear, step-by-step instructions tailored to real-world use.
- Apply usability best practices to improve readability and ensure content meets accessibility and safety standards.
- Update and maintain document templates in line with UL, FCC, and international regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with engineering, design, legal, and product teams to gather insights and refine messaging.
- Collaborate with illustrators or provide direction for visuals that support user comprehension.
- Review materials through usability testing to identify areas for improvement.
- Manage multiple documentation timelines in a fast-moving product development cycle.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Communications, English, or a related field.
- 3–5+ years of experience creating instructional content for consumer electronics, small appliances, or hardware.
- Strong grasp of information design, accessibility, and regulatory documentation standards.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and product specifications.
- Proficiency with tools like Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, or FrameMaker.
- Excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills with close attention to detail.
- Experience working across departments and adjusting to changing priorities.
Preferred Background
- Experience managing multilingual content or coordinating with translation services.
- Familiarity with UX writing or digital help formats.
- Knowledge of structured content or information architecture principles.
Work Environment
This role is based in Stamford, CT, with a hybrid schedule: onsite Monday through Thursday and remote on Fridays. You’ll work alongside creative, cross-functional teams focused on delivering high-quality, innovative products used in homes across the country.
Compensation & Impact
The annual salary range for this position is $85,000–$115,000. Your contributions will support products trusted by millions, helping users prepare meals with ease and confidence. You’ll play a key role in shaping how customers interact with and understand each device.
