Technical Logisticians play a vital role in enabling medical operations by managing the critical infrastructure that keeps humanitarian projects running. They lead logistics teams and ensure the functionality of systems essential to patient care, including power, water, sanitation, transportation, and communications.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruit and supervise local personnel managing water and sanitation facilities
- Oversee vehicle fleets, including maintenance, logistics planning, and staff training
- Manage information and communications technology systems and radio equipment
- Support the development and implementation of security policies and protocols
- Coordinate transportation of supplies and personnel in complex environments
- Supervise construction, maintenance, and renovation of medical and residential facilities
- Ensure uninterrupted power supply in clinics and hospitals through system oversight and repairs
- Establish and manage accommodations for international and local staff
- Lead the setup of mobile medical clinics in remote or emergency settings
- Train logistics teams and strengthen local capacity in technical operations
- Manage logistics department administration, including reporting, budgeting, and contracts
Qualifications
Candidates must have at least two years of professional experience post-training, including supervisory or training roles, and demonstrated experience working in low-resource or humanitarian contexts. Technical expertise in one or more of the following is required: construction, electrical systems, mechanics, water and sanitation, or communications equipment.
Preferred candidates will have a degree or vocational training in engineering, fluency in French or Arabic (B2 or higher), and hands-on experience with generators, pumps, vehicle mechanics, or computer systems.
Assignment Details
Positions involve 9- to 12-month international deployments in over 70 countries, with locations determined by project needs. Work requires adaptability, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to ethical, impartial, and independent medical care.
