GE HealthCare is hiring a Technical Leader - Materials Engineering (Remote Eligible, U.S.)

About the Role

GE HealthCare is looking for a Technical Leader - Materials Engineering to join our team. In this role, you will work within the Materials team to support all business units within GVH and Global Nuclear Fuel (GNF) across Nuclear Engineering. You will be responsible for leading engineers towards developing new material technology, characterizing material behavior, and performing design analyses for both plant and fuel applications.

What You'll Do

  • Provide support to the functional manager to plan, assign, and manage resources for the Materials Engineering team.
  • Provide technical leadership for BWR plant and fuel related materials deliverables within both GVH and GNF businesses.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with teams and commercial leaders within the business to understand upcoming related work demands and provide inputs on team capability and availability.
  • Work with other engineering leaders to advance risk-informed designs, as needed.
  • Perform manager review and approval of engineering technical deliverables for customers (internal and external).
  • Work with project managers and commercial program managers to provide work planning, scheduling and technical support for customer deliverables.
  • Perform technical evaluations, analyses and verifications in the areas of BWR nuclear plant and fuel material applications.
  • Perform work in compliance with NRC regulated policies and procedures.
  • Interface with internal and external customers on technical issues.
  • Support Company initiatives.
  • Meet customer commitments and drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide input/feedback to functional manager related to personnel performance.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline (Material Science, Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical or similar).
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in a technology or engineering role related to materials science and engineering.
  • U.S. person status (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to domestic and international plant sites.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in specific technology areas: BWR plant and fuel material processing, testing, and in-service performance behavior.
  • Experience with BWR and PWR technology.
  • Knowledge of reactor licensing requirements.
  • Project management training & experience with enterprise scheduling tools such as Primavera.
  • Demonstrated high energy and the ability to energize others.
  • Team player with strong leadership capabilities.
  • Self-starter with a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Legacy of delivering on commitments; tenacious, with a proven track record of overcoming obstacles; ability to achieve stretch targets.
  • Strong external focus; clear and demonstrated understanding of nuclear industry and/or energy industry.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Clearly and confidently communicates based on deep understanding.
  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and cope under pressure.
  • Six Sigma, Lean, or equivalent quality training.

Team & Environment

You will work within the Materials team to support all business units within GVH and Global Nuclear Fuel (GNF) across Nuclear Engineering, reporting to a Functional Manager.
