AIB Personal Banking – Allied Irish Banks is hiring a Technical Lead

AIB Personal Banking is looking for a Technical Lead to join a large, motivated team delivering strategic change within our Core Banking domain. In this role, you will implement technology solutions for customer banking needs, influence program direction through strong design practices, and evolve the engineering landscape.

What You'll Do

• Deliver quality IT solutions by enforcing best-in-class coding standards and ensuring project deliverables meet quality criteria.
• Support a team of engineers to deliver on the bank's digital strategy as a committed team player.
• Contribute to evolving the engineering landscape through the adoption of new tools and technologies, including AI.
• Cultivate innovation, encourage diverse thinking, and develop others through coaching and feedback.
• Maintain a strong focus on non-functional requirements in security, performance, observability, testability, and sustainability.

What We're Looking For

• 7+ years of enterprise technology experience in complex projects spanning multiple teams.
• Experience with current Java technologies, enterprise integration patterns, and scalable systems design, including Java, Spring, Spring Boot, REST, SQL, CI/CD Tooling, JSON, XML, and Kafka.
• Previous experience managing and/or leading a development team.
• Expert-level understanding of distributed architectures and microservice development.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical issues and strategy to both technical and non-technical senior audiences.
• Project and program management planning skills, including accurate effort estimation, critical path identification, and risk assessment.
• Broad understanding of Application, Information, and Infrastructure technologies and practices.

Nice to Have

• Core Banking and/or Payments delivery related experience.
