As the Manager of Search Engineering, you will guide a globally distributed team of software engineers focused on developing and maintaining the core systems behind a powerful search and personalization platform. This role blends hands-on technical leadership with people management, ensuring the team delivers robust, scalable solutions aligned with product goals and customer needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide mentorship and technical direction to engineers, fostering growth and high performance
- Advance automation and innovation in search infrastructure to enhance system reliability and efficiency
- Collaborate with product and engineering stakeholders to define priorities, manage backlogs, and execute on Agile project timelines
- Clarify technical requirements and ensure team tasks align with broader project objectives
- Identify and resolve roadblocks impacting team productivity and delivery timelines
- Support strong engineering practices, including CI/CD pipelines, code quality standards, and test coverage
- Maintain awareness of evolving trends in cloud architecture, distributed systems, and search technologies
Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years of software development experience across the full lifecycle, with strong background in cloud environments (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
- Hands-on experience building and managing microservices and containerized applications, particularly with Kubernetes
- Proven ability to lead engineering teams, with 0–3 years in a managerial or technical leadership capacity
- Solid understanding of SaaS deployment models and large-scale distributed systems
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across time zones and functions
- Familiarity with Apache SOLR is beneficial but not required
