WSP USA Inc. is looking for a Technical Director - Electrical (Building Services) to be a key technical leader within our UK Building Services team. In this role, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of UK Building Services projects, serving as the primary client contact and leading multidisciplinary MEP design teams.
What You'll Do
- Deliver UK Building Services projects in line with client expectations.
- Work in a joint leadership capacity within a mechanical, electrical, and public health (MEP) discipline team, providing design and technical advice as a project manager.
- Supervise the completion of detailed designs and the work of other team members.
- Take responsibility for, and direct others in, the production of detailed and performance specifications.
- Act as the client’s key point of contact, responsible for overall project delivery against client deliverables and internal KPIs.
- Work under client direction, interpreting project needs to meet full delivery requirements.
- Lead project feasibility studies specific to the electrical discipline.
- Understand and act upon opportunities for business development and client relationship growth.
- Promote WSP’s capabilities and expertise within the region.
- Manage the development and line management of junior staff.
- Brief project teams and ensure contracts are in place before work commences.
- Maintain project overview, understanding team workload and resource requirements.
- Hold regular team meetings covering resourcing, staff issues, health & safety, quality, training, and development.
What We're Looking For
- A BEng/BSc/MEng in an applicable engineering discipline.
- CIBSE / IET / Engineering Council Chartership.
- A proven track record in delivering UK Building Services projects.
- Expertise in electrical design, including: Low voltage distribution systems, cable calculations (via ElectricalOM or Amtech / by hand), lighting calculations (software and by hand), energy lighting, small power, Fire Detection & Alarm, intruder detection, access control & security systems, disabled call systems, data cabling and outlets, and lightning protection.

Team & Environment
You will join a Building Services team in London consisting of more than 100 mechanical, electrical, and public health engineers, including E&S and Smart Team members. You will work in a joint leadership capacity within an MEP discipline team, reporting to the Discipline’s Team Leader.
