This full-time position is for an elementary reading teacher to begin in the 2026–2027 academic year. The role centers on delivering evidence-based reading instruction to students requiring additional support. Instruction is tailored to individual needs using ongoing assessment data and aligned with district curriculum standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement targeted reading interventions for students identified as needing additional support.
- Work closely with classroom teachers and literacy specialists to coordinate instruction and ensure alignment with core learning goals.
- Use district-approved resources and curriculum materials to deliver differentiated lessons that reinforce classroom learning.
- Regularly assess student progress, adjust instruction as needed, and maintain accurate records of learning outcomes.
- Communicate student performance updates to stakeholders in a clear and timely manner.
- Participate in professional development sessions to strengthen teaching practices and stay current with literacy research.
- Operate computers, educational technology, and standard office equipment to support instruction and documentation.
- Complete assigned duties, including periodic reporting and program evaluation tasks.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Virginia teaching license with Elementary Education (PreK–6) endorsement.
- Successful completion of FBI and State Police criminal background checks, Child Protective Services clearance, and tuberculosis screening.
- Strong understanding of language arts instruction, including current research-based methodologies.
- Familiarity with Virginia Standards of Learning and available instructional resources.
- Proven ability to interpret assessment data and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Organizational skills to manage schedules, track progress, and support program effectiveness.
- Ability to use diverse instructional materials and technology tools in the classroom.
- Physical capacity to meet classroom demands, including sitting and standing for extended periods, bending, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds, and interacting at student level.
- Visual and auditory ability to read printed and digital materials and engage in clear verbal communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three to five years of full-time teaching experience.
- Master’s degree in education or a related field.
- Additional endorsement as a Reading Specialist.

Compensation and Benefits
