Corewell Health is looking for a Surgical Technologist to prepare the surgical suite, handle instruments intraoperatively, and maintain the sterile field. You will be responsible for evaluating changing conditions during procedures and applying knowledge of surgical principles. This role may also serve as a preceptor.
What You'll Do
- Provide sterile instruments and supplies during the surgical procedure.
- Perform surgical sponge, needle and instrument counts.
- Work with physicians to submit preference card changes when discrepancies are found and suggest instrument set changes.
- Create and maintain a sterile and safe environment.
- Prepare case tables with necessary equipment, sterile supplies, instruments and medications/solutions for each surgical case.
- Assist in positioning patients for surgical procedures and maintain a protective position throughout the case.
- Engage in case costing by opening only supplies that are necessary and waiting to open supplies that are only occasionally needed.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association within 90 Days or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross within 90 Days.
