University of Iowa Health Care is looking for a Support Services Specialist to join the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. You will provide essential clinical operational support to ensure effective and efficient health care delivery within the IVF-Andrology laboratory.
What You'll Do
- Contact patients after their initial storage period ends, communicate disposition directives, and scan related forms into Epic.
- Assist with daily and annual billing, including scheduling storage billing appointments in Epic.
- Enter patient demographics into the SART CORS web-based database for regulatory compliance.
- Prospectively report cycle starts into SART CORS within 4 days, interpreting EMR documentation.
- Scan IVF outcome forms into Epic.
- Assist with finalizing and verifying yearly data for the national SART/CDC registry and with data entry for lab procedures.
- Place and receive orders for laboratory supplies and interact with vendors.
- Assist with collecting medical record information for shipments of cryopreserved materials.
- Collaborate with peers and co-workers to enhance health care delivery.
- Provide feedback to management on achieving goals and resolving service issues.
- Participate in chart audits to ensure all laboratory charges are billed.
- Contribute ideas to improve assigned processes.
- May train and supervise students or temporary staff.
- May analyze, monitor, and report financial data.
- May initiate purchasing requests for supplies.
- Responsible for IVF-Andrology laboratory daily billing and mass yearly storage charges.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 6 months to 1 year of administrative experience.
- Proficiency with computer software, including the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams) and database applications.
Nice to Have
- Experience in Women's Health.
- Experience with Epic.
- Knowledge of UI Health Care policies, procedures, and regulations.
