Responsibilities
- Collaborate with procurement teams to evaluate and choose suppliers based on quality, capability, cost, delivery performance, environmental compliance, and social responsibility standards in alignment with customer needs.
- Lead the qualification process for new suppliers, including capability analysis, risk evaluation, self-assessments, on-site audits, and maintaining qualification records.
- Analyze customer specifications and drawings to propose value-driven engineering improvements that optimize supplier production methods or product designs.
- Manage component and material qualification using PPAP protocols, including FAI, material certifications, control plans, FMEA, MSA, process parameters, RoHS compliance, reliability testing, and certificates of conformance.
- Monitor quality performance of newly qualified parts during pilot production to ensure compliance with customer quality expectations.
- Lead corrective actions with suppliers during initial production runs (1–3 lots) and support smooth transition from pilot to full-scale manufacturing.
- Serve as a subject matter expert to resolve urgent supplier quality issues and perform root cause analysis for defects or failures.
- Support annual follow-up audits for current suppliers in coordination with Supplier Quality Engineers.
- Assist suppliers in implementing continuous improvement initiatives using quality methodologies to enhance production and product quality.
- Manage engineering change orders (ECO/ECN/SCR) from customers and track implementation, ensuring requalification when required before production.
- Apply knowledge of internal manufacturing processes and development practices to collaborate effectively with suppliers on quality and component improvements.
- Conduct supplier quality audits to verify compliance with ISO standards and regulatory requirements.
- Build strong collaboration with procurement teams and supplier networks to strengthen supply chain performance and relationships.
- Support cross-functional teams in supplier selection, approval, and development to meet business and customer requirements.
- Ensure all supplier selection and management activities follow established vendor guidelines and procedures.
- Lead comprehensive evaluations of supplier process control strategies, controls, and monitoring systems for effectiveness.
- Apply statistical methods and professional judgment to analyze data and identify opportunities for process optimization.
- Design and oversee process validation activities, analyze outcomes, and document findings in formal reports and protocols.
- Guide suppliers in conducting process capability assessments to ensure production consistency and quality.
- Develop and execute Design of Experiments (DOE) to understand supplier processes and identify root causes of variation.
- Create and deploy procedures for new or enhanced supplier manufacturing processes.
- Support receiving inspection teams with statistical analysis, measurement system evaluations, Gage R&R studies, and inspection method development.
- Participate in Material Review Board decisions regarding non-conforming parts or services supplied by vendors.
- Engage in supplier quality system improvement initiatives to strengthen compliance and performance.
- Oversee the supplier change request process, ensuring proper review, approval, and implementation.
