Washington University in St. Louis seeks a Supervisor of Pre-Certification to lead the day-to-day operations for the Otolaryngology department. In this remote role, you will supervise the predetermination process, provide operational oversight for operating room scheduling, and counsel patients on financial assistance options.
What You'll Do
- Develop, implement, and ensure adherence to policies to optimize the precertification process and minimize financial loss.
- Initiate and facilitate the predetermination process, interacting directly with patients regarding non-coverage to develop self-pay financial plans.
- Work with faculty, clinical staff, and other departments to coordinate on package pricing and ensure agreement with developed financial plans.
- Monitor volumes through reporting to adjust staffing levels and workload distribution as needed.
- Interact with representatives of major third-party carriers to resolve prior approval problems and discuss program changes.
- Participate in selecting, training, supervising, and evaluating new employees, and assist with coverage during absences.
- Provide operational oversight of operating room scheduling activities to ensure cases are appropriately scheduled, authorized, and released.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of Epic surgical scheduling workflows, including Snapboard, to monitor case status and identify issues.
- Coordinate with surgeons, clinic staff, and perioperative services to align pre-certification status with OR scheduling timelines.
- Ensure staff consistently follow pre-certification and OR scheduling workflows to prevent surgical delays, cancellations, or financial risk.
- Assist in troubleshooting scheduling-related issues that impact authorization, financial clearance, or surgical readiness.

- Experience in precertification and/or medical management.
- An associate degree.
- Supervisory management skills.

- Salary range: $56,200.00 - $87,100.00 annually.
