Postmedia is looking for a Summer Multi-Media Journalist to join the team at The London Free Press. In this three-month term position, you will work remotely in London, ON, reporting and writing for print, web, and mobile platforms, covering a wide range of news and entertainment stories. Your schedule will be a five-day week, including partial weekend and stat holiday shifts.
What You'll Do
- Report and write stories and shoot photos for print, web, and mobile audiences, tailoring content for each platform.
- Develop local story ideas daily and quickly pivot to meet changing newsroom priorities.
- Use social media and digital tools to find breaking news and topics Londoners are discussing in real time.
- Cultivate sources to break stories and help set the news agenda.
- File video clips for digital platforms and collaborate with digital teams to create interactive and multimedia content.
What We're Looking For
- A graduating journalism school student or graduate, or a candidate from a related field.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines with clear, concise, and engaging writing.
- Flexibility to write effectively in breaking news, features, short form, and non-traditional story formats.
- Hunger to work in a daily newsroom with top-notch journalists and eagerness to show your capabilities.
- A digger who looks for hidden story angles and develops a talent for explanatory journalism.
- A reporter interested in not just what happened, but why and how, with the ability to concisely convey that added meaning.
Nice to Have
- Newsroom experience.
- Experience and strength in video or podcast presentation.
- A valid driver's licence and access to a personal vehicle.

Benefits & Compensation
- A weekly pay rate of $917.
