Responsibilities

  • Conduct structural analysis for power line support structures and foundations
  • Design steel and concrete components for transmission towers and substations
  • Prepare engineering calculations and technical documentation
  • Review project specifications and applicable codes and standards
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on project execution
  • Perform field inspections and support construction activities
  • Ensure designs meet safety, reliability, and regulatory requirements
  • Utilize engineering software for modeling and simulation
  • Coordinate with clients and stakeholders on technical deliverables
  • Support permitting and environmental review processes
  • Develop construction drawings and material specifications
  • Evaluate existing structures for upgrades or modifications
  • Apply industry standards such as NESC, AISC, and ASCE 48
  • Manage multiple tasks within project schedules
  • Provide input during project planning and scoping phases
  • Assist in cost estimation and project budgeting
  • Review contractor submittals and shop drawings
  • Participate in design reviews and technical meetings
  • Ensure quality control in engineering outputs
  • Maintain accurate project records and documentation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in the United States
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in structural design for power delivery systems
  • Experience with transmission line structures and substation layouts
  • Strong knowledge of structural analysis software
  • Familiarity with CAD and BIM tools
  • Understanding of foundation design and soil-structure interaction
  • Proven ability to interpret engineering drawings and schematics
  • Effective communication skills for team collaboration
  • Experience working on utility-scale energy projects
  • Knowledge of industry codes including NESC and AASHTO
  • Project management experience is a plus
  • Willingness to travel for site visits and client meetings
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience with finite element analysis
  • Understanding of seismic and wind loading on structures
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Commitment to safety and quality standards
  • Problem-solving skills with a practical engineering mindset

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering
  • Experience with lattice tower design
  • Familiarity with transmission line routing studies
  • Project experience in western U.S. regions
  • Knowledge of OSHA and safety compliance
  • Experience with project scheduling tools
  • Exposure to renewable energy interconnection projects
  • Working knowledge of geotechnical reports
  • Participation in professional engineering organizations
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers
