International SOS Government Medical Services, Inc. is looking for a Sterile Processing Technician to ensure the aseptic processing and sterilization of surgical instruments and reusable medical equipment in our hospital setting. Your expertise in sterilization techniques and microbiology will be critical to our mission of providing safe, effective care.
What You'll Do
- Apply practical knowledge of aseptic theory and principles to prevent infection spread.
- Apply knowledge of microbiology and microbial resistance to sterilization agents.
- Execute standard procedures for steam autoclaving, including biological and Bowie-Dick testing.
- Execute standard procedures for chemical sterilization (e.g., Sterrad), including biological testing and operator maintenance.
- Execute standard procedures for High-Level Disinfection systems (e.g., Medivator Advantage, Trophon, manual HLD).
- Maintain a working knowledge of the availability, use, operation, and maintenance of surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment.
- Identify damaged or broken surgical instrumentation and find suitable replacements.
- Maintain knowledge of specialty instrumentation for General, GYN, Orthopedic, and microscopic surgical procedures.
- Utilize your thorough familiarity with surgical procedures performed in a hospital Operating Room.
- Apply knowledge of medical/surgical terminology, human anatomy, and physiology.
- Follow detailed manufacturer instructions for handling, cleaning, and reprocessing Reusable Medical Equipment (RME) and flexible endoscopes.
- Perform all physical demands of the role, including prolonged standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and pushing/pulling heavy carts.
- Work in a loud environment while wearing required PPE for 8-hour duty days.
- Complete required organizational and client-specified compliance education.
What We're Looking For
- Certification as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or higher by IAHCSMM/HSPA OR
- VA Level 2 certification with minimum 2 years of current SPS work experience OR
- Non-Certified with minimum 5 years of documented, verifiable SPS hands-on work experience OR
- Possess either a HSPA Certification or a CBSPD Certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduation from a nationally recognized CRCST training program with minimum 2 current years of documented field work OR
- Graduation from a nationally recognized Operating Room Technician training program with minimum 2 current years of documented SPS work experience OR
- Graduation from a US military Surgical Technician training program with minimum 2 current years of documented SPS work experience.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English effectively.
- Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Ability to pass/possess a VA Public Trust Clearance.
