PATH is hiring a State Medical Advisor- Aizawl, HIV, Sashakt

About the Role

The State Medical Advisor plays a key role in advancing HIV care across Mizoram by providing expert clinical guidance and strengthening treatment systems under Project Sashakt, supported by PEPFAR and CDC India. This position works directly with ART centers and state health authorities to enhance the quality, reach, and retention of HIV services aligned with national guidelines and the UNAIDS 95-95-95 goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver hands-on clinical mentoring through routine visits to ART centers to improve service delivery and patient outcomes.
  • Ensure ART services follow national technical protocols and promote adherence to best clinical practices.
  • Support efforts to maximize retention of people living with HIV in care.
  • Strengthen integration between HIV and TB programs at treatment sites.
  • Collaborate with SACS and Centers of Excellence to organize and conduct SACEP and Tele-SACEP sessions.
  • Assess training needs and lead capacity-building initiatives for ART staff.
  • Identify and implement innovative, differentiated models for ART delivery to expand coverage.
  • Engage private healthcare providers and NGOs through field visits and coordination with project teams.
  • Contribute technical insights during quarterly program reviews and strategy discussions.
  • Work closely with prevention teams to address gaps and improve overall program effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years of experience in HIV/AIDS programs at state or national level.
  • Proven background in program implementation, operational coordination, and team development.
  • Experience working with state or district health departments.
  • Proficiency in English and the local language, along with computer literacy.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and adapt in high-pressure environments.
  • Collaborative mindset with experience in multicultural, cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to project locations as needed.

Preferred Background

  • Degree in medicine (MBBS) or AYUSH; advanced degree such as MPH or MBA is advantageous.

Work Environment

This role is based in Aizawl, Mizoram, with regular travel to project sites. The position operates within a collaborative, results-driven framework focused on equitable health solutions and innovation in public health programming.
