Valence is hiring a Staff Software Engineer, Product

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and scale backend infrastructure and client-facing features for an LLM-based coaching product.
  • Lead end-to-end feature delivery, from API design and model integration to polished browser interfaces.
  • Partner closely with product, design, and infrastructure teams to align technical solutions with business goals.
  • Contribute across the full stack, including backend services, AI integration, and frontend development.
  • Ensure systems are built for scalability, high performance, and security in enterprise settings.
  • Troubleshoot issues across the entire stack, including model behavior, backend services, UI logic, and client-side performance.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to create reliable and engaging user experiences.
  • Help shape engineering culture, tools, hiring practices, and long-term technical strategy as the team expands.
  • Develop and maintain critical backend systems, including API architecture, LLM integrations, and server optimization.
  • Create intuitive and accessible frontend interfaces, ensuring seamless data flow between client and server.
  • Own the full development lifecycle: requirement scoping, testing, deployment, monitoring, and production observability.
  • Engage deeply with product, design, data, and infrastructure teams to solve user problems and speed up delivery.
  • Promote engineering excellence through standards development, CI/CD automation, observability, and performance testing.
  • Support team growth through code reviews, technical mentorship, and establishing scalable development practices.
