About the Role
This position involves ensuring precise medication distribution, verifying prescriptions, and supporting patient care through clinical services and provider coordination within a multidisciplinary environment.
Responsibilities
- Dispense medications accurately in compliance with state and federal regulations
- Verify prescription orders for correct dosage, drug interactions, and patient allergies
- Counsel patients on proper medication use, side effects, and adherence
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize patient treatment plans
- Maintain up-to-date patient medication records and profiles
- Process insurance claims and resolve billing issues efficiently
- Participate in medication therapy management and chronic disease support programs
- Ensure pharmacy operations meet legal and safety standards
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff as needed
- Manage inventory, including ordering, receiving, and stock rotation
- Identify and report potential medication errors or safety concerns
- Administer immunizations and other clinical services as permitted
- Stay current with pharmaceutical knowledge and industry best practices
- Support quality improvement initiatives within the pharmacy
- Educate patients on preventive health and wellness programs
- Maintain confidentiality of patient health information
- Respond to drug information inquiries from patients and providers
- Ensure compliance with controlled substance documentation and storage
- Participate in pharmacy audits and regulatory inspections
- Promote patient engagement through follow-up and adherence programs
