Career Team is hiring a Staff Accountant

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures to support compliant and efficient reporting under Federal WIOA, state, local, and internal regulations.
  • Ensure timely fulfillment of financial responsibilities in alignment with approved budgets and WIOA requirements.
  • Create and manage project budgets, financial forecasts, and working capital planning.
  • Track government contracts and private funding to maximize complete and compliant financial usage.
  • Process employee expense reports, vendor invoices, and analyze program payroll data.
  • Execute month-end close tasks, including reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
  • Gather and organize documentation required for monthly contract billing submissions.
  • Assist in preparing for annual audits and respond to periodic audit inquiries.
  • Manage the client invoicing cycle, ensuring accurate and timely billing and fulfillment of customer orders.
  • Apply a proactive and energetic approach to daily responsibilities using the 'ZAG' mindset.
  • Complete additional accounting tasks and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
  • Proven understanding of GAAP, with skills in balance sheet and profit/loss reconciliation, and fiscal policy implementation.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and accounting platforms such as QuickBooks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities in English.
  • Experience managing confidential and sensitive financial information.
  • Prior interaction with senior leadership and third-party funding entities.
  • Highly detail-focused with strong organizational, analytical, research, and critical thinking capabilities.
  • Capable of meeting month-end deadlines, working independently, and collaborating in a remote team setting.
  • Able to perform under pressure while managing a large volume of tasks quickly and accurately.
  • Demonstrates teamwork, professionalism, and respectful conduct in all interactions.

Nice to Have

  • At least three years of experience managing U.S. government contracts.
